Bhubaneswar: The body of a 60-year-old woman, who was allegedly murdered by her son at Badakankarkhol village under Riamal police limits in Deogarh district, has remained unattended outside the house for over 20 hours due to an inordinate delay by the scientific team in reaching the crime spot for investigation.
According to reports, the accused son returned home around 1 pm yesterday in an inebriated condition and had an argument with his mother. In a fit of rage, he allegedly attacked her with a wooden log, killing her on the spot.
The incident came to light in the evening when neighbours informed the police. On a tip-off, police took the accused into custody and are investigating the matter.
However, due to the delay in the arrival of the scientific team, the victim’s body remained unattended outside the house for over 20 hours.
The police are yet to perform the last rites of the deceased, awaiting the completion of the investigation.
