Deogarh: An elephant was found dead at Gariapali village in the Riamal Range under Kundheigola section of Deogarh Forest Division.
Forest officials suspect that the elephant’s death was caused by electrocution, as electrical equipment, likely used for poaching, was found scattered near the carcass.
The tusker had been roaming in the locality for a long time. It is believed to have died late at night. Upon receiving information, forest department officials rushed to the scene and launched an investigation.
The body of the animal has been seized for post-mortem.
