Bhubaneswar: The disappearance and death of an elephant in Kandhamal district has taken a dramatic turn with the recovery of its body parts being buried near the village of suspended Forest Ranger Binaya Kumar Bisi.

According to reports, the Forest Department had suspended Ranger Binaya Bisi on Tuesday in connection with the death of an elephant in the Munduti forest and the alleged disappearance of its carcass elsewhere. However, the elephant’s body had not been found. Baliguda DFO launched an investigation the incident.

On Wednesday, a joint task force team along with Baliguda DFO Ghanashyam Mohanta and Tumudibandh Range Officer Kalicharan Behera reached the Tahansir area of Kesinga, the village of suspended Ranger Bisi, to conduct a search operation.

The body was exhumed from a depth of around seven feet and was found in a fragmented state, with parts including the trunk, neck, and other portions recovered. Significantly, the recovery site is situated near a dam close to the residence of suspended forest ranger Bisi, who is reportedly under suspension in connection with the case.
