Bhubaneswar: A war room has already started functioning in the Energy Department in view of the possible cyclone over the Bay of Bengal hitting the State.
“The Energy Department has already put in place a war room to take pre-cyclone, during cyclone and post-cyclone- restoration steps for proper handling of the situation in the event of the possible cyclone hitting the State,” informed Minister of State (MoS) for Energy Dibya Shankar Mishra.
The Minister reminded reporters of the efficiency of the Energy Department in how it had restored power supply within 24 hours during earlier cyclones.
Principal Secretary Energy Nikunja Bihari Dhal said that both OPTCL and distribution companies are fully prepared for the possible cyclone.
“In fact, a monitoring mechanism has already started functioning. Development Commissioner had taken a review yesterday. We have sufficient material and can mobilize the required manpower for quick restoration of power,” informed Dhal.
