Baripada: Police on Monday recovered the body of an engineering student from a mess in the Laxmiposi area under Baripada Bhanjpur police limits.

The deceased has been identified as Buddhaditya Naik, the elder son of Dharmendra Naik of Badajambila village in Bishoi block of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district. Buddhaditya was a final year student of the mechanical department of a private engineering college in Laxmiposi near Baripada town.

According to Buddhaditya’s friends, he had a fight with someone on the phone on Sunday night. After the fight he had gone to sleep in his room. When the students in the mess woke up today morning they were shocked to see Buddhaditya’s body hanging from the ceiling of his room.

The deceased’s father Dharmendra Naik reached the spot after receiving the news from the college. He said that he had a long talk with his son Buddhaditya on Sunday evening and demanded a proper investigation into the incident.

While the cause of death is not yet to be ascertained, preliminary investigations suggest that the deceased was in love with some girl and he took the extreme step after a fight with his girlfriend on Sunday. The local police have reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.
