Bhubaneswar: Every person deserves to be treated fairly and with dignity, stated Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik, on the occasion of Human Rights Day 2022 on Saturday.
“On Human Rights Day, let’s renew our pledge to eliminate inequalities, discrimination and commit to protect human rights of all, especially the vulnerable and marginalised groups to ensure a just and inclusive society,” tweeted Patnaik.
The world is celebrating Human Rights Day today commemorating the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). The UDHR was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948 and is widely considered the cornerstone of international human rights law.
The day is used to raise awareness of civil, political, economic, and social rights, and to emphasize the importance of protecting the rights of all individuals. The theme for Human Rights Day 2022 is “Dignity, Freedom, and Justice For All.”
There is still much work to be done in order to ensure that everyone’s rights are respected and protected. On this Human Rights Day, the world is reminded of the importance of respecting and protecting the rights of all individuals.
