Bhubaneswar: A Special Vigilance Court in Angul on Thursday sentenced Rabindra Kumar Tripathy, a former Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Police at Thakurgarh police station in Angul district, to two years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) after convicting him in a bribery case.
According to an official press release, the court also imposed a fine of ₹10,000 on Tripathy.
Odisha Vigilance had charge-sheeted him under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(d) and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹10,000 from an individual in exchange for releasing a seized motorcycle.
Following his conviction, Odisha Vigilance will now approach the competent authority to stop Tripathy’s pension.
