Bhubaneswar: Under the influence of an active cyclonic circulation at 5.8 km altitude over the North Andaman Sea and its adjoining areas, a low pressure area is likely to form over the west-central and northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts by September 11, the Meteorological Department has forecast.
Under the influence of the system, heavy rainfall is likely to occur in north and south Odisha till September 12. Heavy rainfall is likely in Baleshwar, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj today. Scattered rainfall is expected at various places in north and coastal Odisha.
On September 10, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall. An Orange Warning has been issued for these two districts. Heavy rainfall alert has also been issued for Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Rayagada, Koraput, Gajapati, Ganjam and Puri.
On September 11, warning has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall at various places in Koraput. Heavy rainfall is likely at many places in south Odisha. On September 12, rainfall is expected at various places in south Odisha including Koraput and Malkangiri. Some places in western Odisha are also likely to receive rainfall.
