Bhubaneswar: Former Odisha Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Naveen Patnaik met on Saturday with the grieving family of Sahadeb Nayak, a ‘Police Mitra’ tragically murdered in broad daylight earlier this week.

The meeting took place at Patnaik’s residence in the state capital.

Nayak, a member of the Safai Karmachari Sangh, was brutally hacked to death on Wednesday in full public view on the Rasulgarh over-bridge. His untimely death has sent shockwaves across the state.

During the emotional meeting, Patnaik extended his heartfelt condolences to Nayak’s wife and two daughters, assuring them of his support.

The former Chief Minister pledged to bear the educational expenses of Nayak’s two daughters, ensuring their futures are not hindered by this tragic loss.

Patnaik also provided the family with a financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to help them in this difficult time.

Sharing his time with the family, Patnaik expressed solidarity and voiced his commitment to seeking justice for the deceased.

He shared a video of the meeting on his X (formerly Twitter) account, captioning it, “Biju Janata Dal (BJD) will continue to fight until the family gets justice.”
