Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance arrested Sudarsana Khatua, former Secretary of the Bamanbindha Service Co-operative Society under BBCC Bank Ltd., on Tuesday.
The arrest took place at Tihidi in Bhadrak district, where Khatua is accused of embezzling over Rs 13 lakh from society funds.
According to an official press release, Khatua allegedly manipulated official records to misappropriate government funds amounting to Rs 13,32,260. The methods included unauthorised withdrawal of savings bank deposits belonging to society members, showing artificially low balances in the Day Book, and charging excess Mondi labour fees above the government-fixed rates.
Following the discovery of these irregularities, Balasore Vigilance Police Station has registered Case No. 13/2025 against Sudarsana Khatua. Investigations are ongoing.
