Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance today arrested Ganga Paikray, Deputy Superintendent of Excise, Nabarangpur for amassing disproportionate assets (DA) to the tune of 208% of his known sources of income, which he could not account for satisfactorily.
According to an official press release, the accused Paikray will be forwarded to court today.
The anti-graft agency has on Saturday registered a case against Paikaray and his spouse at Koraput Vigilance police station under sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(b) and 12 of the PC Amendment Act, 2018.
During house searches, Vigilance has unearthed movable and immovable assets worth crores of rupees in the name of Paikray and his family members.
Details of the assets unearthed by the anti-graft agency are as follows: 1) Triple-storeyed residential building with an area of approx 4000 Sqft. located near the Fire Station, Jeypore. 2) Another triple storeyed residential building with area approx 1600Sqft. over plot No.791/200 located at Nuasahi Lane-1, Jeypore. 3) One tin parking shed surrounded by a compound wall of area 1450 Sqft. over plot No.341 at Jagadhatripur, Jeypore. 4) Advance amount Rs.16 Lakh paid to Annapurna Real Estate, Jeypore during 2013-14 to purchase land/house. 5) 5 plots in a prime area of Jeypore town were found. 6) Cash Rs 1,12,240.7) 2 four-wheelers (Hyundai Creta& TATA-ACE) and 2 two-wheelers worth approx Rs 17 Lakhs. 8) Jewellery, deposits and household articles worth approx Rs 20 Lakh.
