Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Excise department personnel arrested three persons, including a B-Tech student and a girl, and seized 275 grams of brown sugar from their possession during a raid in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
According to reports, the three accused were nabbed on their way from Khurda to Bhubaneswar this morning. Subrajyot, his girlfriend Reema (pseudo name) and his friend Rahul were coming from Khurda to Bhubaneswar by car after buying brown sugar in Khurda.
Subrajyot, a B-Tech student, sold brown sugar in college with his friend and girlfriend. He used the narcotic substance himself and sold it to his friends and classmates.
When Subrajyot, a B-Tech student who was driving the car, noticed that the Excise personnel had set up a barricade on the road and were checking vehicles for narcotic substances and illicit liquor, he sensed trouble and sped away. The Excise officials chased his vehicle and nabbed the three near the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar.
Brown sugar seized from their possession is valued at Rs 25 lakh in the market.
