Jajpur: Two minor girls sustained severe injuries after being beaten black and blue by a local faith healer (Kalisi) at Pantpuri village under Jenapur police station area in Jajpur district.

According to reports, Prasant Lenka, a resident of Panturi village, opted for unconventional treatment for his daughters, Dutti and Jyotsna, who were suffering from fever after conventional medicine failed to help them recover. Prasant turned to a local faith healer identified as Tulasia Mahanta. However, Mahanta, under the guise of performing rituals, beat the girls mercilessly, causing severe injuries.

The incident sparked widespread outrage in the village, with locals protesting and detaining the faith healer and his accomplices. Upon being informed, Jenapur police intervened and took the accused faith healer and his accomplice into custody.

Two sisters were rushed to Dharmasala Hospital for treatment after being beaten severely.

Meanwhile, the victim daughters’ father filed a complaint with the Jenapur police, following which the police have launched an investigation into the incident.
