Bhadrak: A fake detergent manufacturing unit operating under the name of reputed brands has been busted in Bhadrak district.
According to sources, the factory was running for a long time near Ranital Bazar under Bhadrak Rural police limits. Detergents were being manufactured using logos and packaging of well-known companies and were being sold in the market.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a late-night raid on the factory. On getting information about the raid, the staff locked the factory and fled from the spot. During the raid, police seized a huge quantity of fake detergent packets, logos and packaging materials from inside the factory.
The adulterated products were reportedly being supplied to markets in Bhadrak, Baleshwar and Jajpur districts. It is alleged that customers were being cheated by selling duplicate products in the name of big brands.
Meanwhile, police have started an investigation to nab the factory owner. Raw materials, machines and chemicals were found inside the locked house. Police have been guarding the premises and a detailed search of the house will be conducted today.
