Bhubaneswar: The reports of people entering the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack with fake passes during the India-South Africa T20 ODI on June 12 have come as a shock to many including the cricket lovers who were not able to get the tickets for the match despite standing in long queues for hours.
Over 1000 fake passes looking exactly like the ones issued by the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA), were allegedly in the possession of people who were able to enter the stadium without any hindrance. The incident came to light after some of them shared the photos of the fake passes on social media.
The passes carry the photo of the person, their name, and their identities mentioned as ‘MLA Crew Volunteer’ or ‘BJD Volunteer’ with the designation written as Reporter/Cameraperson.
The incident has raised questions about the security arrangements and it is suspected that a racket is involved and some members of the OCA are the masterminds.
However, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of OCA Subrat Kumar Behera refuted the allegations and termed it a conspiracy to malign the image of the organization.
