Bhubaneswar: Police today arrested two persons for allegedly running a fake zarda factory in Puruna Bazar of Bhadrak district with the seizure of a huge amount of duplicate tobacco.
The accused have been identified as Sheikh Rabbani and Sheikh Khalique, City DSP Ansuman Dwibedi said.
“Huge amount of duplicate zarda, and equipment and machines used for its manufacturing, pouches and packaging materials were found during the raid. The cost of the seized tobacoo is estimated to be of Rs 45 lakh to Rs 50 lakh. Finished products weighing more than one quintal were seized”, City DSP Ansuman Dwibedi said.
On a tip-off, police raided three places where illegal units were running. Packaging covers of branded companies, logo, stickers, machines, chemicals and dryers have been seized from there.
Further investigation is underway.
