Bhadrak: A farmer went missing after being swept away by strong currents in the flooded Genguti river while returning from agricultural fields in Bhadrak district on Thursday, triggering concern among his family members and local residents.
The missing farmer has been identified as Ganesh Jena of Pahadpur Jenasahi under Dhamnagar block.
According to reports, Ganesh, along with four other farmers, had gone to the fields in the morning to transplant paddy. After completing the agricultural work, the farmers were returning home when the water level in the Genguti river suddenly rose amid flooding in the area.
Ganesh was reportedly swept away by the strong current and went missing. Following the incident, rescue teams and the administration launched efforts to trace him.
The incident has caused concern in riverside areas of Dhamnagar as water levels in the Genguti and other rivers in the region continue to rise amid the flood situation.
