Father-Son Duo Feared Trapped As Heavy Rainfall Triggers Landslide In Gajapati

Bhubaneswar: A 70-year-old man and his son went missing after a landslide in Baghamara Hills buried their home in Peketa village under Rayagada block in Gajapati district on Thursday.

The missing persons have been identified as Kartika Sabar and his son Rajib Sabar.

Locals suspect that Kartika and his son Rajib might be trapped under the debris after a landslide occurred while they were working on their land during heavy rainfall. The strong current of water from a nearby stream and the collapse of the hill likely buried them under the rubble.

Meanwhile, fire service personnel reached the site and began rescue operations, but the efforts were hindered by the approaching darkness and continuous heavy rainfall
