Dhenkanal: Panic has gripped several villages in Kamakhyanagar after a tiger, on the prowl for the past four days, has been attacking and killing cattle in the area.
According to reports, the tiger has been active in both the Kamakhyanagar West and East forest ranges, dragging away cows and bulls from near villages. On Saturday, it reportedly killed a bull in the forest near Kantaripat village under the Kamakhyanagar East Range, further intensifying fear among locals.
Locals say the tiger has been straying out of the forest frequently, preying on domestic animals with ease. Despite ongoing efforts, the forest department has so far failed to capture or tranquilize the big cat.
The repeated attacks have sparked widespread concern in nearby villages, with locals demanding that the forest authorities relocate the tiger to another area before it poses a threat to human lives. They have also urged the administration to step up monitoring and patrols to track the animal’s movement and prevent further losses.
