Female Elephant - Dead

Bhubaneswar: A female wild elephant was found dead on Tuesday in the Muribahal range of the Bolangir Forest Division in Bolangir district.

Locals spotted the carcass and immediately informed forest officials, who rushed to the site and began an inquiry.

“The elephant had been moving from Titlagarh to the Muribahal forest area over the past few days. It was found dead this morning,” said Siba Prasad Naik, Range Officer of the Muribahal Forest Range.

The cause of death is yet to be determined. Naik said a postmortem examination will be conducted to ascertain both the cause of death and the age of the elephant.
