Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to deploy drones in its combat against dengue in the area under its jurisdiction. At the same time, the municipal body will impose fines on citizens who would be found not cleaning the breeding ground for dengue larvae in their homes and locality.
Talking to the media, BMC Mayor Sulochana Das on Friday said, “Like last year, we will deploy drones to spray insecticides to kill mosquitoes and larvae, especially in areas that are difficult to access. We have already started fogging and cleaning operation and now we plan to deploy drones from August 15.”
The BMC Mayor added, “Chemicals will be sprayed in mosquito breeding spots using drones. From August 15, fines will be collected from households having mosquito breeding sources.”
“It is not possible for the BMC alone to achieve 100 per cent success in ending mosquito menace in the city and adjoining areas. Therefore, I appeal to all to cooperate with us and keep their surroundings clean. People who will be found having mosquito breeding spots in the homes or surroundings will be fined from August 15,” she said.
