Bhubaneswar: With two more days to FIH Odisha Hockey World Cup 2023, sanitation and beautification is underway in full flow in and around the Kalinga Stadium. For the grand event, the Bhubaneswar Municipal corporation (BMC) has a strategy for ‘instant cleaning’ of the vicinity, sources said.
Deputy Commissioner (Sanitation), Suvendu Kumar Sahu is leading the activity while Assistant Health Officer, BMC has been designated as Nodal Officer for smooth management of sanitation activities. Assistant Commissioner (Sanitation) and SBA Cell Experts are assisting in providing on-ground support.
Team BMC has divided the area in seven different zones like Hockey Stadium Gate to Golei Square and Gate No. 8A, Hockey Golei Chaka to Gate No – 8, Gate No-3 to Gate No-7 Via Swimming Pool, Gate A to Tennis Court, Inner Circle, Swimming Pool Chaka to Yoga Mandap and Yoga Mandap Chaka to Gate No – 9.
About 100 sanitary workers and 12 loaders shall be deployed along with required number of vehicles like tractors, tippers, loaders and other collection vehicles. The on spot monitoring and central reporting have been ordered to ensure timely cleaning.
“For each zone there will be sanitary supervisors to report and coordinate component-wise activities. Different sanitation agencies have been intimated for specific assignments. • City Health Officer will carry out regular fogging in and around Kalinga Stadium,” a senior official of the BMC said.
