Bhubaneswar: The Khurdha district and sessions court today deferred hearing on the bail plea of film producer Sanjay aka Tutu Nayak to November 8.

The court directed the police to submit the updated case diary and old records.

Nayak was arrested on Saturday for allegedly assaulting a woman journalist in the city. A case was registered at Kharvel Nagar police station under sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 294 (using obscene words) and 354 (outraging modesty).

Nayak was arrested after being interrogated at the police station. “Based on the statement of the complainant and the witnesses and CCTV footage, we found prima facie evidence against the accused. Hence, he has been arrested and forwarded to court,” said a police officer.

The woman journalist named Debasmita Rout had lodged a complaint with police accusing Nayak of assaulting and showing indecent behaviour to her.
