Paradip: A fire broke out at the Paradip Port administrative building, destroying critical documents, computer equipment, and a server room managed by Tech Mahindra on Thursday night.
The blaze, which is suspected to be a case of arson, also left one employee, Shailendra Behura, critically injured. Behura was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital as his condition deteriorated.
According to reports, the fire broke out at the server room, which housed critical electronic data related to ship movements and services at the port. The data was fed into servers managed by Tech Mahindra, a local company entrusted with the task.
Despite the port’s robust security measures, the fire is believed to have been intentionally set to destroy documents and equipment. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire and identify those responsible.
Paradip Port Deputy Chairman Nilabhra Das Gupta and other senior officials have visited the site to assess the damage and ordered an inquiry into the incident.
