Bhubaneswar: A fire broke out in a coal-loaded goods train under the Sambalpur Railway Division while it was passing through Kesinga at around 7:15 pm on Friday, triggering an emergency response from railway authorities and local administration.
Railway officials immediately initiated emergency measures after the fire was noticed and alerted the concerned authorities. The train was subsequently brought to Titlagarh at around 8:15 pm, where firefighting operations were undertaken on a war footing.
According to railway sources, the Fire Brigade reached the spot at about 8:25 pm and began efforts to douse the flames.
Preliminary reports indicated that five wagons of the goods train were affected in the incident. Senior railway officials along with emergency response teams are present at the site and are closely monitoring the situation.
No disruption to passenger train services has been reported so far, railway officials said.
