Puri: A major fire broke out in a multi-storey market complex in Puri’s Bada Danda area on Wednesday evening. The incident was reported from Laxmi Shopping Mall at Marichkot chowk on the Grand Road of the pilgrim town.
Though commercial establishments were shut on the occasion of the Holi festival today, a few tourists are reportedly trapped in a guest house in the same building where the fire occurred.
While the reason behind the blaze is yet to be ascertained, efforts are to douse the flames and rescue the trapped tourists. At least 6 fire tenders have been pressed into service to attend to the emergency.
