Bhubaneswar: Residents in Jharsuguda railway colony got panicked following gunfire by unknown miscreants late on Saturday night. Unidentified miscreants opened fire at a house, discharging at least six rounds. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
According to eyewitnesses, the altercation might be linked to a fight between two groups during the Ganesh Puja immersion procession. The exact motive behind the firing is yet to be established. The Jharsuguda police are investigating to identify the culprits, and a forensic team has recovered empty cartridges from the premises.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) has launched a probe into the incident and is investigating the circumstances surrounding the firing.
