Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Fishermen Warning advising fishermen not to venture into the sea along the Odisha coast for the next five days due to squally weather and rough sea conditions.

According to the alert, squally weather with wind speeds reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph is very likely to prevail along and off the Odisha coast on April 30. From May 1 to May 4, wind speeds of 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph are likely to continue, particularly along the North Odisha coast. The sea condition is expected to remain rough to very rough in these regions from April 30 to May 4, 2026.

This warning comes in the wake of expected thunderstorm activity and strong winds over several parts of the state. Fishermen and boat operators have been urged to take all necessary precautions and avoid going out to sea during this period to ensure their safety.
