Agalpur (Balangir): In a tragic incident, a person drowned to death, while another has gone missing and one was rescued safely from a canal on Thursday at Pipilipali village in Bharsuja gram panchayat under Agalpur block in Balangir district.
While the deceased has been identified as Golekh Podha, the missing person has been identified as Pramod Podha. Rajani Podha has been rescued and admitted to a hospital.
According to reports, Golekh Podha, Pramod Podha and Rajani Podha of Pipilipali village at around 11.00 AM today went to Kulari canal near the village to catch fish. While they were busy catching fish water level in the canal suddenly rose as a result of which they drowned.
As they cried for help people rushed to rescue them. Golekh and Rajani were rescued by the people and rushed to the Agalpur Community Health Centre (CHC) by ambulance.
While Golekh was declared ‘brought dead’ by the attending doctors at the CHC, Rajani was admitted to the hospital and was undergoing treatment.
On the other hand, Fire Service personnel had launched a search and rescue operation for Pramod who had gone missing.
