Bhubaneswar: Police today arrested five people in connection with the murderous attack on Ganjam district BJP president Subas Sahu during the election campaign in Chandbali of Bhadrak district.
The arrested accused are from Totapada village under Bansada police station in Bhadrak. They are – Sipa Jena (23), Dipuna Jena (28), Rabindra Bal (48), Vijay Kumar Jena (23) and Papina Jena (36).
Subas Sahu was on a campaign trail in Chandbali for BJP State president Manmohan Samal. Sahu said that he was in Chandabali to study the preparation for Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit.
At Totapada, 40 to 50 people pelted stones and bricks at his vehicle after seeing the BJP flag on it. They also attacked him with kick and punch in the presence of the police, he alleged.
With the help of his car driver, he was able to run away from the spot and lodged a complaint with police.
Sahu held BJD candidate Byomakesh Ray responsible for the attack on him.
