Bhubaneswar: In a significant breakthrough, Jhirpani Police on Monday arrested five persons who were allegedly preparing to commit a dacoity at Jagda Field under Jhirpani police limits in Rourkela.
Acting on a credible tip-off, a patrolling team from Jhirpani Police swung into action on the evening of September 27 and apprehended the accused from the spot before they could execute the crime.
During the operation, police recovered one auto-rickshaw, one country-made pistol, one live round of ammunition, two iron swords, two knives, and a torchlight from the possession of the accused.
All five accused have been forwarded to court.
