Balasore: At least five persons were injured after a Kerala-bound bus overturned in Odisha’s Balasore district on Friday, police said.
The mishap occurred near Sheragada Square when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The bus was carrying 47 labourers from Assam who were travelling to the southern state, officials added.
Locals rushed to the spot and helped rescue the passengers, shifting them to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
According to police, five critically injured passengers were initially admitted to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital. They were later referred to hospitals in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar for advanced care.
Meanwhile, officials from the State Transport Department made arrangements for train travel to facilitate the onward journey of the remaining passengers.
Authorities are looking into the circumstances leading to the accident.
