Balasore: Acting on a tip-off regarding the flesh trade, Soro police in Odisha’s Balasore district raided a rented house in Badakhuri in the Soro municipality area on Tuesday night and detained three women and three men.
The police have launched an investigation into the case. The police said that action would soon be initiated against the house owner.
According to reports, the flesh trade has been flourishing in Soro for quite some time in hotels and rented houses. Some brokers are minting money by bringing young women from neighbouring West Bengal on the pretext of providing them employment but engaging them in the flesh trade.
After receiving repeated complaints in this regard, Soro police station officer Prabhanshu Shekhar Mishra led a team to raid a rented house in Ward No. 1 in Badakhuri. After interrogation, police detained three women and three men.
