Balasore: Over 35 villages under seven panchayats in Baliapal block of Balasore district have been affected due to flood in Subarnarekha river. Major roads have been submerged affecting vehicular communication.
Today morning, floodwater was flowing three feet above the road at Parulia. A goods-laden Pick Up Auto Rickshaw had been stuck in the water. It was pulled out with the help of local people.
Meanwhile, people living in flooded areas have been placed in flood shelters. More than 10,000 people have been shifted to more than 100 shelters and are being provided with cooked food.
Till 12 noon today, Subarnarekha was flowing at 49.72 metres at Jamsholaghat against the danger level of 49.15 metres and at 11.88 metres at Rajghat against the danger level of 10.36 metres. It was on a falling trend at both places.
As per the data shared by the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC), at 12 noon today, the water level at Hirakud dam reservoir was 622.27 feet. The inflow was 2,24,303 cusec and outflow was 97,269 cusec through four gates.
On the other hand, the discharge at Khairmal was 2.95 lakh cusec, at Barmul it was 3.92 lakh cusec, and at Munduli it was 5.42 lakh cusec.
