Jajpur: In view of the prevailing flood situation, waterlogging in several parts of the district and the possibility of heavy rainfall, the District Education Office, Jajpur, has ordered the suspension of classes in all schools across the district on Tuesday (August 18).
As per an office order issued by the District Education Officer on Monday, classes in all government, government-aided and private schools will remain suspended for the day. The order applies to elementary, secondary and higher secondary schools, as well as Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAVs) and Odisha Model Adarsha Vidyalayas (OMAVs).
The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure in view of the ongoing flood situation and the possibility of further heavy rainfall in the district.
However, the Education Department clarified that school premises will remain open and available for rescue and rehabilitation operations, if required. Schools may be utilised as centres to facilitate relief, rescue and emergency response measures in the event of any flood-related exigency.
