Bhubaneswar: A 65-year-old woman died after being swept away by floodwaters of the Subarnarekha river in Baleshwar district.
The deceased has been identified as Sumitra Nayak, wife of late Kahnu Nayak of Sana Aunsa village under Bhograi block.
According to information, Sumitra had gone to the Ausa ghat for bathing along with three others. Due to the flood, the water level at the ghat was high, and she reportedly slipped and was swept away due to a momentary lapse in caution. She was later rescued with the help of locals and Pasarbindha Sarpanch Sumant Behera and rushed to the Jaleswarpur Community Health Centre (CHC), where doctors declared her brought dead.
The post-mortem was conducted at the CHC and the body was handed over to the family.
