Bhubaneswar: Two students, Shubhra Sambit Nayak and Jyoti Prakash Biswal, who were arrested and are in judicial custody in connection with the death of a student at Fakir Mohan College in Balasore, are being interrogated by the Crime Branch.

As per the court order, the probe agency questioned them in the presence of a lawyer inside the jail.

The interrogation, which has been ongoing for three days, aims to determine the involvement of other individuals in the incident. Notably, the two student leaders had spoken to the deceased student 18 to 19 times before her death, raising suspicions about their involvement.

The Crime Branch will record the voice samples of both students and send them to the forensic lab for examination along with the voice of the deceased student. This development comes as part of the ongoing investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.

The court has granted permission for the Crime Branch to conduct the interrogation inside the jail in the presence of a lawyer, citing law and order concerns. The investigation is underway, with the Crime Branch working to determine the extent of the involvement of others in the incident.
