Nuapada: A man-eater leopard that reportedly killed a woman and a minor boy in Odisha’s Nuapada district recently was eventually captured by Forest Department personnel on Saturday night.
The leopard was caged at Kodapali in the Dharma Bandha area under the Sadar Forest Range in the Nuapada district.
According to reports, after locals spotted the leopard perched on a building in their neighborhood, they alerted the Forest Department. Soon, the department dispatched a five-member team to the spot and installed the cage to trap the leopard.
Meanwhile, the capture of the big cat triggered tension in the area as irate locals pelted stones at the animal and attacked it with sticks inside the cage. Later, the Forest Department personnel pacified the angry mob and shifted the animal to the Sadar Forest Range Office.
According to Khadial DFO Sushil Kumar Tripathi, the leopard will be released in Nandankanan Zoo after its treatment.
