Bhubaneswar: A former accountant at the office of the DFO (Territorial) in Sundargarh has been sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment in a corruption case.
A special vigilance court in Sundargarh also ordered Hemanta Kumar Mishra to pay a fine of Rs 1,00,000. Mishra was charged by Odisha Vigilance under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(e) of the PC Act, 1988, for possessing disproportionate assets.
Following his conviction, the Vigilance Department will now petition the competent authority to stop Mishra’s pension. The court has also ordered the confiscation of Mishra’s disproportionate assets, valued at Rs 3,40,669
