Bhubaneswar: In a significant anti-corruption development, Odisha Vigilance has secured the conviction of senior OAS officer Govinda Dandasena, former Additional Tahasildar of Bijepur in Baragada district and presently Executive Officer of Rajgangpur Municipality in Sundaragada.
On August 13, 2026, the Special Judge, Vigilance, Baragada convicted Dandasena in a case registered under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(d) and 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
He was charge-sheeted by Vigilance for demanding and accepting bribe from a land owner to process mutation case records related to his land.
The court sentenced the convicted officer to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and also imposed a fine. Following the conviction, Odisha Vigilance said it will now move the competent authority for dismissal of Govinda Dandasena from service.
