Bhubaneswar: In a significant anti-corruption development, Odisha Vigilance has secured the conviction of Dr Hrudananda Samanta, Former Assistant Project Officer of Indo British Health Organization, Puri (Retired), in a disproportionate assets (DA) case.
According to a release issued by Odisha Vigilance, Samanta was chargesheeted by Vigilance under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for possessing disproportionate assets beyond his known sources of income.
The Additional Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, convicted him and sentenced him to three years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 1 lakh.
