Bhubaneswar: A former Regional Transport Officer (RTO) of Balangir was on Tuesday convicted by a Vigilance court here in a disproportionate assets case and sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment (RI).
Manoj Kumar Mohanty, a retired RTO of Balangir, was convicted by the Special Judge, Special Court, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, in connection with a case involving possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on Mohanty.
Following his conviction, the Odisha Vigilance said it would move the competent authority for stoppage of Mohanty’s pension.
