Bhadrak: A former Sarpanch and former president of Ambaroli Cooperative Society was allegedly murdered when he was on his way home after attending a religious programme at Bandhagaon village in Bhadrak district on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Chitta Ranjan Rout.
As per reports, Rout had gone to attend an ‘Asta Prahari’ programme last night. As he failed to reach home, his family members made a frantic search for him. To everyone’s surprise, Rout’s blood-soaked body was found lying near a canal.
According to preliminary findings, the deceased suffered multiple fatal injuries, including severe head trauma and lacerations across his body, suggesting a vicious attack that ultimately led to his tragic demise.
On a tip-off, Bhadrak Rural Police rushed to the crime scene and began an investigation to ascertain the motive behind the alleged murder.
Rout’s murder shocked the local people as those who knew could vouch that Rout had no disputes or rivalries. He was widely admired for his compassion, integrity, and commitment to public service. Family members and residents insist that Rout had no known disputes or rivalries.
