Bhubaneswar: In view of the very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, all schools and Anganwadi centres in Malkangiri district will remain closed on August 18, 2025 (Monday).

The order was issued by the Collectorate of Malkangiri’s Emergency Section following a weather alert from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The official notice highlighted that continuous rainfall in various parts of the district has created challenging conditions, especially for young children. To ensure their safety and prevent any untoward incidents, the Collectorate has mandated the closure of all government, aided, and private schools, as well as all Anganwadi centres across the district.

“Therefore, to avoid any untoward situation and keeping the safety of the children in mind, the undersigned hereby declares closure of all the Anganwadi Centres, all Govt., aided and private Schools of this district,” read the order.

However, the order emphasised that Headmasters, Headmistresses, teachers, Anganwadi workers, and other staff members are required to be present at their respective institutions as usual.
