Bhubaneswar: Former BJP leader Irani Ray, who had contested the Assembly poll from Nayagarh on BJP ticket in 2019, today joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) at party headquarters in Bhubaneswar.

She was inducted into the ruling party in the presence of senior party leaders including MP Manas Mangraj, Arun Sahoo, and Sasmit Patra at Shankha Bhawan.

Irani Ray had recently resigned from BJP after being dissatisfied with the party leadership.

“I was not satisfied with BJP as the party doesn’t give respect to women. My hard work got no recognition there. So, I decided to join the BJD with my supporters after being inspired by the leadership of CM Naveen Patnaik,” Ray said at a Mishran Parv.

Irani had contested from Nayagarh on BJP ticket in 2019 and lost to BJD’s Arun Sahoo.
