Bhubaneswar: The former Director of M/s Ghanteswari Flour Mill Pvt. Ltd in Sambalpur was arrested by vigilance for misappropriating government funds worth over Rs. 4.48 crore.
Anil Kumar Beriwal was charge-sheeted by the Vigilance Department for his alleged role in a criminal conspiracy with four officials of Sambalpur District Cooperative Central Bank Ltd. (SDCC Bank).
The conspiracy involved abusing official positions to sanction and disburse loans, causing a loss of Rs. 4,48,14,358 to the bank and the public exchequer.
Beriwal had been evading court appearances, prompting the issuance of a non-bailable warrant by the Special Judge Vigilance, Sambalpur, on November 19, 2024. He has now been forwarded to judicial custody.
