Bhubaneswar: The Crime Branch arrested former IIC of Jaleswar police station who was absconding for over three years, from Narasinghpur area in Cuttack on Friday.
Dhaneswar Sahu was wanted by the Crime Branch for his alleged involvement in brown sugar smuggling. A purported audio clip containing his conversation with brown sugar smugglers had gone viral on social media in 2020.
Later, the DGP suspended him from service and ordered an investigation into his alleged link with brown sugar smugglers. After being suspended, he was absconding. The Crime Branch had taken over the investigation.
The Crime Branch arrested him from his house at Narsinghpur in Cuttack on Friday.
