Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance has secured the conviction of a retired Junior Engineer in a disproportionate assets case.
On Monday, Ashok Kumar Padhy, former Junior Engineer, office of Assistant Soil Conservation Officer, Gunupur, Rayagada, was convicted by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Brahmapur.
Padhy was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the PC Act, 1988 for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The court sentenced him to undergo simple imprisonment for a period of three years and to pay a fine of Rs 1,00,000/-.Following the conviction, Odisha Vigilance said it will move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Ashok Kumar Padhy.
