Bhubaneswar: Former Kendrapara MLA and BJD leader Sipra Mallick on Thursday joined the Congress in the presence of senior leader and former PCC president Prasad Harichandan and senior leader Panchanan Kanungo at Congress Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.
“I am feeling happy to return to my father’s place. I will sacrifice all my efforts to strengthen the Congress more,” she said after joining.
Replying to the reporters regarding party ticket for her, she replied that she was unaware about any development regarding this. “I was unaware about party’s planning on me. As I was an MLA from Kendrapara constituency, I am interest for the seat. It is up to the party leadership who can take a call on it. I will carry out the order of the party,” she said at a press meet.
Mallick had been elected to the State Assembly in 2009 on a BJD ticket. Her father was a veteran congress man.
