Bhubaneswar: Police on Sunday recovered the body of a former professor floating in the Mahanadi near the Jobra Barrage in Cuttack. The deceased has been identified as Baishnab Charan Singh, a former professor of Ravenshaw University.
Baishnab has a house in Rajendranagar but he lived near Nandankanan in Bhubaneswar.
Some locals spotted the body of Baishnab floating in the Mahanadi and informed the police. Soon, police and Fire Services personnel reached the spot and recovered the body.
The circumstances that led to the death of the former professor are yet to be ascertained. The police are probing to ascertain whether Baishnab committed suicide or was murdered. The police are questioning the family members of the former professor and investigating the incident from various angles.
